The Great Pumpkin Shootout (GPS) is a little over a week away and we are excited to host close to 40 teams at this year’s tournament.
Please read the entire post as it contains important information about this year’s event.
Location: Central Sports Complex (5405 Rodgers Drive, Warrenton, VA 20187). Please use the Meetze Road Entrance. The entrance on the Fauquier County Fairgrounds is locked and can be used for emergencies only.
Schedule: The schedule for the 2024 Great Pumpkin Shootout has been posted on Tourney Machine. We are using Tourney Machine to post the schedule and update scores throughout the day. Please download the app and search for the Great Pumpkin Shootout on October 12, 2024. The schedule can also be found on the website linked above.
Check-in: Please have one representative from each team check in at the registration table at least 45 minutes prior to your first game. Registration will open at 8:15 am. Players do not need to check-in when they arrive, just one representative per team. For teams that submitted a team payment and did not have players register individually, please ensure all players have completed the GPS Waiverprior to participating. The GPS Registration table will be located between Field #3 and Field#4. Look for the orange Great Pumpkin Shootout tent.
Game Play: All teams must have at least one adult on the sideline with the team. Only coaches and players are allowed on the team sideline during games. Please remember this is a competitive tournament with the primary goal to allow girls the opportunity to have fun and play the sport they love. We have players and teams of all ages and abilities. The most important thing is for the girls to have fun in a safe environment. We ask that everyone work together to demonstrate sportsmanship throughout the day and keep the culture positive for the players. Great Pumpkin Shootout staff members will be at each field to report the final score and contact the Certified Athletic Trainers if one is needed. Scores will be kept on the field by the official for each game. Please note that Fields 1-3 are turf and Fields 4-7 are grass. GPS staff members will be wearing STAFF shirts so they can be easily identified.
Parking: Parking is available and surrounding all of the fields at the complex. Parking may be tight during the late morning as afternoon teams arrive and morning teams have not finished yet. We ask for patience in the parking lot and recommend carpooling if possible to reduce the strain on parking. A copy of the 2024 Great Pumpkin Shootout field map is attached below.
Vendors: Food trucks will be available throughout the day. Uncle Fred’s BBQ will be serving BBQ, breakfast sandwiches, hamburgers and hot dogs as well as sides and cold drinks. Fine Designs will be selling custom tournament apparel with the Great Pumpkin Shootout logo.
Team areas: Teams are welcome to set up tents in the non-playing areas around the facility. Please do not set up near the end lines (behind the goals) of fields for safety purposes. We also ask that spectators respect the team areas during games and stand on the sideline identified for spectators. This will help keep players and coaches on one side of the field and spectators on the other. Grills are not permitted at the facility. Trash cans will be located around the facility for your convenience and will be emptied throughout the day.
Championships: The top two teams in each division will play in the Championship. Please note when the Championship is for your age group and be ready to play at that time if your team is one of the top two teams. Tie breakers will be determined by head-to-head results, goal differential and goals against. A maximum of a 10-goal difference will be calculated for each game.
We look forward to hosting each of you next Saturday. We hope that you have a great rest of the week and are ready for a fun day of lacrosse.
